My trusty computer is kinda dying I think. Since today, she sometimes just stops reacting and then won't boot with a hard reset.

Strange thing is though, that testing everything came out without problems. Nothing seems to be wrong.
I hope I don't need a new system, because I can't afford it, but do any of you have an idea what the problem might be?
I've thought of power shortage (from the net) and that's not it. Neither is it a harddisk, graphical or other bus problem. All responds pretty normal to extensive testing...

I have tested my CPU and PSU to the limit, that's not the problem, neither is my RAM nor my graphics... I'm scared to death it's my motherboard, which would suck... I really don't know what's wrong! :moreilly:

If you have two sticks of ram, try one stick in each DIMM slot, and then the other. Simple as it sounds, I once lost a few weeks testing PSU, ram, drives, and cpu after a problem turned out to be a DIMM slot on my mobo.

The weird thing is that I could boot sometimes and run for days and other times no POST. Memtest even passed a few times while I was testing the sticks @ certain volts and stock speeds. Turned out that my MSI board's DIMM2 was dying.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

I think I'm gonna try that, I got two RAM slots free, and the problems I have sound just like that

So, here's the update:

My motherboard has died on me, so I've gotta get me a whole new system. It's probably gonna be a Athlon X2 AM2 socket, can't spare much you know....

Well... that's the story, new mb, cpu, RAM and graphics for me, because I now have to update all I have....

I just found out, my CNPS7000B-Cu Zalman cooler might not fit on my new CPU and Motherboard combo, does anyone know if it'll work yes or no??
I'd like to know, because if it doesn't fit, I can sell my current Zalman for a compatible one.
