well the idea of a 50gb CD would be cool, but then again, what would you store on 1 CD thats 50gb!!! and how long would it take to burn???? lol

burn time doesn't matter, I'd store my Music and Data on them

A 50GB disc, well for us now it sounds like a lot but I suppose in reality it isn't. Think about this for some $$$ you can easily have +- 1TB of storage. Games are taking up more and more space on both the discs they come on and hard discs we install them on to.

Even movies are coming out on discs that need more and more storage so I suppose 50GB won't be a big thing for too long.

yeah, you're right lino, but with more space some better special affects and better games ;)

so if they make good use of it, it'd be good I think

Of cause Dvd writers will have to be faster I mean imagine burning a 50GB disc at a speed of 2x. I would cry, so hopefully this technology means drives that can burn at MUCH faster speeds

they are up to what 16x now? even with that it takes quite a long time to burn 4.7 gb imagine 24 hours to burn at 50 gb dvd O.o
