images/news/windows.jpg “Today we are happy to announce that Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) has released to manufacturing (RTM). Windows XP SP3 bits are now working their way through our manufacturing channels to be available to OEM and Enterprise customers.

We are also in the final stages of preparing for release to the web (i.e. you!) on April 29th, via Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center. Online documentation for Windows XP SP3, such as Microsoft Knowledge Base articles and the Microsoft TechNet Windows XP TechCenter, will be updated then. For customers who use Windows XP at home, Windows XP SP3 Automatic Update distribution for users at home will begin in early summer.

Thanks to everyone here who installed the public betas – you not only gave us detailed feedback but also helped each other out with timely troubleshooting. Through the beta program we found several important issues and were able to confirm some essential fixes. We couldn’t have done this without you.

We will still be monitoring this forum during the next few weeks in case you have more feedback about the release of Windows XP SP3.”

Because having a 'few' is better than having them 'all' :cigar:

so having a few craps is better than having all the crap??? hjajjaja..

I can surely understand... The main reason vista was not more successful was because of its bloatness and hardware requirement, SPECIALLY video card requirement which makes or breaks a computer in the end.

I really like the networking and like a few of the gigs of it... I really like the OS. I dual boot.. and when I'm on work (laptop) i boot on xp because there is no Cisco VPN for x64. When I am at home... I find it impossible to boot xp.

In the end its a good OS and if people are REALLY liking Server 2008 in a workstation form, I don't see why vista can't be tweaked to feel like server 2008 does.

I am sure if they made a performance pack that put vista to server 2008 standards, many heads will start to nod in favor of vista.

I am still tempted to try 2008 which I haven't but I don't want to install all my CRAP :giggle: All that i have said is based on everyone else opinion about server 2008 vs vista. I also think that the "responsiveness" is due to the animations, fade in and fade out of windows into and out of view.

XP is a wonderful OS. It has had 6yrs of time and development from the biggest software maker in the world.

hey high, i agree, though i now, after running server, find it difficult to sit through a vista sesson (dual booting server x64 and vista 32bit). with server, you "add in" rather than "take out" stuff. that said, i hope all installing the sp3 find it to their liking :giggle:

I have found no difference.. i had 5511 i think before this... so its not much of a difference... I would really like that they give something back and that SP are like SP2 was for xp...

Even sp1 was pretty big for vista but only because of its lackluster...

Even then.. .I hope that future ultimate extras are neat... I would love to get a revised gui and more themes like they did with royale noir and zune...

Still waiting... no need to crack uxtheme for different themes ... which i like ultimateclear.

A few of those things, since the freaking gui has the power with aero and d3d, well... that they give us some ultimate stuff...

Oh well...

UPDATE

FYI...

While the planned release schedule for XP SP3 stated MSDN/TechNet subscribers would be receiving the update on May 2, a few days after the public release, Microsoft appears to have listened to the numerous complaints on its TechNet forums and has posted the bits to both the MSDN and TechNet Subscriber Downloads.

or get it from Major Geeks http://www.majorgeek...wnload4323.html
