Microsoft are working right now as we speak on an Operating System that is NOT based on any Windows code, its a sideline from their current OS releases that are slated, and it may never see the light of day.

But if Microsoft did release this after blackcomb, got hackers to go at it, worked out what a user WANTS from each area of the pc and then test it on a variety of hardware....they would end up in a good position!

What do you think? What would you want to see in a Microsoft NOT windows Operating system?

I want serious comments, cos MS do sometimes take a look on forums!

i would just hope that they made it completely secure, thought about what could be exploited, spend a while trying it e.t.c

Makes perfect sense because technology is moving at such a rapid pace these days, it's only inevitable that a new OS, will come around, in a very short time, almost everything will be controlled by computers, [household, vehicles already are, and just about everything already.] :)

I agree with tc1 for computers to really advance a new operating system will have to come into existance. The Windows operating system will only be able to do so much and then something will replace it. I say if Microsoft wants to make sure that they always exist or at least for a long time then something newer than Windows will be needed
