As shitty as Vista was (and it was really, really shitty) it at least had DX10 going for it. Crysis looked amazing at the time and was really the only reason I could see to upgrade from XP64bit. Does 8 even have ONE thing positive that makes it worthy as the next MS OS?

I can't bleeping wait until Steam gets their games developed with OpenGL. It's better and will mean one less reason to have to boot to a paid OS.

Um... new taskbar.....calculator.... nope i got nothin..

'taskbar' sounds too much like work. they should rename it 'pleasure zone', or 'productive receptacle', or maybe 'the desired nook'...

You should write romantic novels for the tech crowd. :giggle:

The new task manager looks cool...

Umm...WinFs...

Welp... I got nothing either. Here's an article listing all of the new exciting features crap in 8: http://www.pcworld.c...provements.html

You know it's bad when you list "new CHKDSK" and "new dialog box for file copying" as reasons to switch. I think it's obvious that 8 is mostly just a mobile device OS, built for tablets, ultrabooks, slates, phones, and phablets (bwahaha..."phablet").

That said, if it's easy to completely keep Metro off the desktop and bring back the start button I might be slightly inclined to upgrade for 15 or 40 bucks...just to keep on moving I guess. Meh.

running win8 under uefi (raid but not under orom. the intel 'satadriver' raid allows trim for raid ssds under uefi). win8 with the win7 explorer is pretty sweet. oh, commenting on 'win8' jitters...i'm still here ;D
