The British police want to have permisson to hack sites supporting acts of terror, why has it taken so long for this to be considered?

Surely if it means effectively preventing something rather than dealing with the real thing!

What really got me is that some people were OPPOSED to it!?!?!

One word comes to mind... MORONS!

Maybe those are the people who built and support the sites?

Heh, the government is probably ALREADY using it, they just haven't told the public! I don't trust em either, but hey, I'd like to see it done, maybe it would give me a job or something :D

i agree that this could edge on freedom of speech, some people want to ban terror from conversation, burying the old head in the sand is not gonna help at all!

yeah, coz the problem is they might hack your site, and SAY that they "had a suspicion" when they really wanted to look at it for other reasons

I think it`s THE job for the moderationteam and the provider of a webpage to look after such things and ban those kind of human....

This, like everything else is gonna have a twofold problem

Whilst it may have some good, knowing the police they are bound to hack innocent people's sites too

Hey, you know the CIA hires renowned hackers after they serve their term in prison at times...probably for security reasons for their databases but they do have the capability to "do things".

I agree with Vis... but although they may take those sites down... they will always be another form... it's just all this file sharing and such is such a fast paced environment it's here on month gone the next... sometimes it's kind of hard to keep up... It will be sad to see torrents go... they have been quite useful.

I'm not saying torrents will be gone forever... Linux uses torrents... linux is free to download, so not ALL torrents are illegal, jsut 90 % of them :)
