i like to give my computers a format every 4 months or so (if i have the time), keeps them running at top performance... i always just back up my data to other hard drives locally or on my network

I format when my OS Crashes or I want to upgrade my OS. I normally just copy all my stuff to my good old back up hard drive.

Does anyone else get the problem, when they format they LOOSE hardware drivers? FOr some reason after I install an operating system for the second time or more... hardware stops being able to be auto detected and causes QUITE a lot of problems trying to get them to install.

I only redo my machine when I have to, because I have so many diagnosis and correctional appz on my machine, there is very little chance anything is going to go wrong. I make back-ups to my 180gb HHD everyday.

Why? You are just running out of disk space to backup a computer that's running fine...if you don't make any changes you don't need to do a backup. :)

That's the thing, I make changes everyday. Always installing and uninstalling software. I have complete repositories of all kinds of stuff that I test to give my opinions on.

Well with my Mecer PC, I usully reinstall Windows every 3/4 months thats usully how long it lasts with out needing a reinstall. (Ok so I tweak my machine sometimes to far) and my P3 which is my test machine.
