images/news/gaming.jpgThe good news: Electronic Arts and Crytek are still releasing a demo of their forthcoming PC shooter Crysis. The bad news: The demo has been delayed to October 26, three weeks before the game goes on sale. "We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the [November 16] release date of Crysis at this stage," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli explained in a statement.

Yerli partially assuaged impatient gamers' ire by announcing the Crysis demo, which will be available via GameSpot Downloads, will ship with the CryEngine 2's Sandbox 2 game editor. This will give "the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal" when the highly anticipated game arrives on store shelves, said Yerli. For more information on Crysis, peruse GameSpot's extensive previous coverage.

That's sad, I wanted to play! But I guess they decided to do that in order to have the time to correct all those bugs the multiplayer beta has now.

Yeah, such a huge and technologically advanced game is bound to have a bunch of bugs. I'm guessing a lot of patches for awhile after the game finally comes out.

That's probably going to happen. But IMO it shouldn't. Delay the game and release it when it's ready. Blizzard does that all the time and the games always kick arses.
