But even given the outcry, we definitely didn't see this one coming. In another Open Letter to his people, Jobs states that he's giving all iPhone owners a $100 Apple gift certificate (details to follow in the next week -- it goes without saying this will only apply to people who bought before the price drop).

Im just glad I waited before buying an iPhone. I tend to be impulsive when it comes to technology, but I couldnt muster up the enthusiasm to reach into my pocket and whip out $600 for a phone. Considering it now that its down to $400. All I know is that if I would have bought an iPhone say 1 or 2 weeks ago and the price dropped $200 but Apple would only give me half of the difference, I would still be pissed off.
