images/news/intel.jpgMicrosoft has released an update for anyone using an Intel processor to power Windows Vista, as well as XP and Server 2003. Referred to as a microcode reliability update, the install updates the Intel processors CPU instruction set. What specifically was changed is not known, the update includes only this brief description:
A microcode reliability update is available that improves the reliability of systems that use Intel processors.
So why would you want to install this? Good question! Presumably it wouldn't have been released unless there was a need for it. Could it be fixing a security vulnerability? Improving performance? Adding new functionality? Perhaps time will tell. For now, it's there if you want it.
