Hey there ~

About 2 days ago me and my friend Simon embarked on rather interesting task. Take a Gateway MICRO Tower system and move it into a Dell FULL tower system..main reason for this is ..well as im sure most of you know trying to find Add on cards for a MICRO case is next to near impossible let alone sometime slightly expensive... sooo .. now i can use Full size add on cards and ot have to worry about it :bluerip: Not only that but the size constraints with TRYING to work in one of those is a pain as well .

The Gatwaye case was about the size of your average say "suitcase" which i had purchased close to 5 years ago. The Dell Full size was a "recyclable " computer that went DOA while workin on it .

Simon decided he was gonna help me do it ... ( well he actually did the work while i observed and learned how to modify the case LOL thanks again Simon for all your help its much appreciated )

Pictures following show the cases in somewhat pristine condition and then the resulting "technological carnage" that followed in a 3-4 hour time span :dribble:

Enjoy

and then the "carnage" ensues the ..biggest pain was removing the front Bezel of the Dell case .. apparently according to what i have seen in searching .. they have some sort of "Bezel tamperproofing" or some such ..which made it a but tougher to start but once that was accomplished we were good to go ..

Posted Image<-- had to remove the Dell "onboard back plate" from the Mobo tray to accept the Gateway Mobo... Dremel Tool and Hack Saw and a pair of Pliers to the rescue :dribble:

Posted Image Old Front Side USB and Audio "retaining clip" that was located BEHIND the Front Bezel of the Dell case which had to be removed to be able to accept the new stuff .

Posted ImagePosted Image < Front and Back of the new "home" for the Gateway WITH the Gateway Mobo Installed.. Note the Front USB.. the Hole for that was just a Little bit too tight so it had to be enlarged.. and well the location of the power Switch immediately to the right and the Power LED .. had to be changed due to the fact of the "proprietry " stuff that would not work .. so suffice to say as Simon put it .. its kinda "child proof" well and alos "Lone Wolf Proof" as well cause with being so used to hitting the "visible" power switch.. i found myself trying a few times since this Mod to turn the thing on with it LOL ..

And as a Famous Cartoon Charecter would say .. Th..Th.Th.Th Thats all Folks

3-4 hours later and some SLIGHT modifications and some things we didnt think of happening .. the Gateway MICRO case in now out for the trash .. and the Mobo has a new home in a Dell (yeah yeah i know of the horror) ..not bad for 3- 4 hours eh .. oh and YES ... thank you again SIMON .. for helping me do this and giving me justa LITTLE tase of what to expect when and IF i go to do my NEXT case modification ..

Hope you enjoyed
