Most people who know of google, have heard of e-bay...its reputation proceeds itself!

But now a new site is in town and its good :)

Introducing the British-born auction site eBid. Now nearing its sixth year in the business, and gaining customers at the rate of over 600 a day, eBid is pioneering a different approach to online auctions.

For a start, it has a Wanted Ad section, so if you don’t happen to find the obscure trinkets you’re after, you can ask for them. Sellers will then bid for your custom. In addition, eBid offers different levels of membership for different levels of users, so if you’re going to be listing a lot of auctions, you can opt for the one that charges you the least. And it also seems to be particularly generous on certain days of the year. On Fridays in December, for instance, it is offering completely free lifetime gold memberships worth £45, which allow free listings and free stores. A gold membership even means that eBid will never take any cut from the final auction price.

While it might not topple the mighty eBay from its lofty perch any time soon, eBid is a good alternative, with its roots firmly planted in the damp acidic soil of good ol’ Blighty. The larger its user base becomes, the more useful it will be, and the virtual monopoly of its main competitor will be no more. It’s amusing to note that eBay is taking an indirect cut of many of eBid’s auctions – PayPal is a readily accepted payment method.

Take a look and let us know what you think!

I am suprised though that no one else came on this market as well, its not something you would expect current companies to expand to, but people i would of thought might start their own on a large basis.

There is so much room for auction sites.

Well, it DOES take a lot of resources. You need bandwith, paypal fees, charimen and business men, keep in mind it is a corporation you need to start if you're gonna do something like this.

they make money off sales, so i agree you'd need money to start off first in the form of a loan, but after that its plain sailing because you get a cut of all sales.
