Many PC owners have been caught out by a virus posing as a warning about illegal net use from the FBI.

The bug-bearing message claims to come from either the FBI, CIA or German BKA police agency, and warns users they have been detected visiting illegal sites.

Those opening a questionnaire attached to the message will be infected by a variant of the well-known Sober virus.

Anti-virus firms have caught millions of copies of the malicious program, suggesting a lot of people have fallen for the fake warning.

FBI... funny story, I thought I was had once... Back in the days of napster, I was an avid downloader and LOVED to run up the connection (56k at the time) with downloads. Well I guess a guy escaped from a jail nearby and our car door was standing open. There were like 4 cop cars, 2 sherriffs and litterally 2 helicopters... needless to say I was freaked, and e-mail doesn't scare me, a knock on the door gets me tweakin.

I haven't seen a single one... anyway if I did, I'd probably discard it anyway... The FBI will jsut show up at your house and confinscate stuff, I know that from a friend's experience, who knew a scanner and a printer could make such real looking dollar bills? :P
