Paris Hilton has been sent home from jail thanks to a doctor's note.

The hotel heiress formerly known as inmate 9818783 made an early exit from the Century Regional Detention Facility shortly after midnight Thursday, after serving just three full days of the 45 days to which she was originally sentenced.

At a news conference Thursday morning, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said Hilton had been diagnosed with "medical issues" that resulted in her being "reassigned" to house arrest for the next 40 days.

He said he was prohibited by law from going into specifics about said medical issues, except that it was not due to a staph infection or some kind of jail outbreak.

"After extensive consultation with medical personnel, including doctors here at CRDF, it was determined that Paris Hilton would be reassigned to our community-based alternative to custody electronic-monitoring program," Whitmore said.

"She has been fitted with an ankle bracelet. And she has been sent home. And she will be confined to her home for the next 40 days. Because she has agreed to this through her attorney, her sentence is now back up to 45 days. She has already served five days, so that's 40 days."

What are your thoughts?

I guess being a celebrity does have its rewards

Paris was arrested on charges of drunken driving in September. In January, she pleaded no contest - the equivalent of a guilty plea - to a reduced charge of alcohol-related reckless driving. She was sentenced to three years' probation and had her licence suspended.

But she was caught driving on a suspended licence in February, when police stopped her for speeding and with her headlights off at night. A traffic court judge ruled on May 4 that Hilton's latest offence constituted a probation violation.

Poor Paris-
Has to stay in her mansion for forty days being waited on hand and foot by her servants.

Why didn't they send her to regular house where she has to clean up after herself , cook her own food and no communication with the outside world( no phone, TV or internet). She has 40 days to serve- make her do it!!!!
:( ;) :sphere: :sphere:

This is just another example of just how broken the machine has become.

If Joe Schmo had been speeding on a suspended license with no headlights on at night and broke his probation, he'd have to do his 90 days like anyone else.

Bah.

I think it's great. That picture of her crying in the back of the police car made my weekend a little bit brighter.

Totally agree!! In a small portion of my heart I feel bad for her, but overall she is getting what she diserves. Celebrities get a slap on the wrist.
